Moby Dick: The story has a simple structure. A sailor called Ishmael narrates the monomaniacal quest of Ahab, captain of the whaler Pequod, for revenge on Moby Dick, a white whale which on a previous voyage destroyed Ahab's ship and severed his leg at the knee. Ahab is a determined, smart and arrogant captain. For 40 years, he lives at the sea, eating pickles every day. He says, ‘it had better show your respect to me. If the sun will be against me, I will pay off old scores.’ Pequod takes in Ishmael from New York and Queequeg from the island of Rokovoko along the way. Ishmael is tired of life on the land, and decides to begin his adventure on the sea. He meets Queequeg in an inn, feels that they have been long lost friends. Ishmael says,’ Better sleep with a sober cannibal than a drunken Christian.’ They go aboard Pequod together.
