The Song Dynasty (960–1279) was a period with a developed economy, culture and arts. Lyric ( Ci, a type of classical Chinese poetry) is an artistic form that best reflects the literary accomplishments of the Song Dynasty. Outstanding poets used lyrical poetry that was bold and unconstrained or graceful and restrained, leaving a deep impression on readers. Chinese painting reached a peak in the Song Dynasty, and featured a variety of subjects and diverse artistic expression.
